ABOUT
Rare antique wall chart from a series produced by celebrated German zoologists Rudolf Leuckart (the "father of parasitology"; 1822-1898), Hinrich Nitsche (1845-1902) und Carl Chun (marine biologist; 1852-1914). They were published by Th. G. Fischer & Co (Kassel and Leipzig) and printed by Hermann Richter & Co in Leipzig. 113 'Wandtafeln' (wall charts) were manufactured between 1877 and 1892 and used worldwide as teaching aids at universites and schools of which JOSEFundJOSEFINE has a complete set. Series 1 (Fol. I) consists of 101 charts, Series 2 (Fol. II) consists of 12 charts. Theechinodermata ("Stachelhäuter") is chart 12 of Series 1. Lithograph on 4 sheets of paper, mounted on canvas and fixed to wooden dowels. Some creasing and stiffness, some tanning at the bottom but overall very good condition considering its age and use, with beautiful illustrations. |
